Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) says every 2 minutes someone is injured in a drunk-driving accident, and every 51 minutes someone is tragically killed by a drunk driver. Two out of three people in the United States will be impacted by a drunk-driving accident. “Chances are, if it’s not you, it’s going to be someone you love. If not today, then tomorrow,” says to MADD.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) says we must recognize the dangers of teen drinking and driving and that teen drivers are at a much greater risk of crashing after drinking alcohol than adult drivers.
To help reduce the No. 1 cause of death on our roadways, the National Institute on Drug Abuse for Teens (NIDA) observes National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week (March 30, 2020 – April 5, 2020). This is an annual observation to connect teens with experts in order to SHATTER THE MYTHS® about drugs and alcohol.
NIDA provides a National Drug & Alcohol IQ Challenge for teens. One March 25, 2020, an interactive version will be available. Until then, teens are asked to download a PDF version here: Download in English (PDF 1.6MB).
